Description
One thing that I was constantly amazed from the structures in Europe was the attention to detail in the stonework. We were told that generations of stone cutters might work on one building, as some could take a hundred years or more. The sheer size was another thing that was hard to comprehend too. They had no hydraulics, cranes or other modern-day devices to move the large stone blocks into place.
This is looking up at the front of the Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris. This is a great example of lifetimes of skillful carving and masonry work.
