The Union Pacific 844 is a very large steam locomotive owned by Union Pacific Railroad. But until you get down beside it, you can't appreciate how large it really is. The main wheels are as large as a person. I remember standing beside it wondering how much each of these wheels must have weighed, then how much power the locomotive must create just to turn those wheels, much less pull the train.
As a young boy, I borrowed my parent's Kodak 126 film camera with flash cubes on a field trip to NASA. Needless to say, my pictures did not come out at all like I had hoped. That started me on my photo journey through high school and beyond. I continue to learn as I feed this growing passion for photography of all types. I strive to give my images a sense of realism, but with a slight edge to pull the viewer into the image. All images are Copyright Tim Stanley Photography.
