Union Pacific 844 is a 4-8-4 steam locomotive owned by Union Pacific Railroad. Built in 1944, it was the last steam locomotive delivered to Union Pacific and is the only steam locomotive never retired by a North American Class I railroad.
The weather on the morning I saw this beast on display was great, but the location was cramped and too small to show it off appropriately. I wish they had fired it up so we could have seen the steam rising from this Living Legend.
As a young boy, I borrowed my parent's Kodak 126 film camera with flash cubes on a field trip to NASA. Needless to say, my pictures did not come out at all like I had hoped. That started me on my photo journey through high school and beyond. I continue to learn as I feed this growing passion for photography of all types. I strive to give my images a sense of realism, but with a slight edge to pull the viewer into the image. All images are Copyright Tim Stanley Photography.
