Description
In Sam Houston Park is a tall statue of an angel with a sword and a palm branch. Odd. You don't expect to see the two items together normally. Built by sculptor, Louis Amateis, it was erected by the United Daughters of the Confederacy in January 1908. Its dedication states “To all heroes of the South who fought for the Principles of States Rights.”
